M. SCOTT ALARCÓN, FACHE

M. Scott Alarcon

Chief Executive Officer

Scott Alarcón began his career with Georgetown Hospital in 1999 as the Director of the Georgetown Cancer Treatment Center. He then held several progressively responsible management roles culminating with his promotion to Chief Operating Officer of Georgetown Hospital in early 2006. He then transitioned to the Georgetown Health Foundation in late 2007 as its Chief Operating Officer. A lifelong Williamson County resident, Alarcon received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University and a Masters in Health Services Management from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He also holds the designation of Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

He has served in a number of leadership positions for local civic organizations and has been instrumental in the expansion and implementation of innovative projects in support of health care throughout Central Texas. Currently, he is a member of the St. David’s HealthCare Board of Governors, Board President for the Georgetown Independent School District Board of Trustees, the Past Chairman of the Texas Life-Science Collaboration Center Board of Directors, a past member of the Executive Committee for The Georgetown Caring Place Board of Directors, Past President of the Central Texas Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Chair-Elect of the Georgetown Partners in Education (P.I.E.) Board of Directors, and Treasurer of the Lone Star Circle of Care Board of Directors.

He is a long-time supporter of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and served as its Chairman of the Board in 2006. Additionally, he has participated on the Texas Hospital Association’s Council on Policy Development and its Leadership Development Council.

In 2005, Alarcón was recognized with the Lone Star Regent’s Early Careerist Award for the American College of Healthcare Executives. In 2006, he was recognized by the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce with the Healthcare Cornerstone Award.

Scott and his wife Gretchen reside in Georgetown and are the parents to Greyson, Landon, Trevor and Kaden. They are actively involved in First Baptist Church Georgetown.

SAM SCHULTZ

Sam G. Schultz

Chief Financial Officer

Sam Schultz has 25 years of experience in accounting, the past 15 in the healthcare environment. He received his Accounting degree from the University of South Dakota. He served as Controller of Georgetown Hospital and Georgetown Healthcare System for seven years prior to assuming his responsibilities as Chief Financial Officer of Georgetown Health Foundation in 2007.

He is a graduate of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce “Leadership Georgetown” program. Mr. Schultz is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and the Texas Association for Healthcare Financial Administration (TAHFA). He is involved in other local organizations, including Lone Star Circle of Care and Ride on Center for Kids (ROCK). He and his wife, Julie, are parents of 3 children. They make their home in Round Rock where they are both active volunteers in the Round Rock Independent School District.

SUZANNA “SUZY” PUKYS

 

Director of Community Resources

Suzy Pukys began her nonprofit career in Georgetown in 2002, overseeing The Georgetown Project’s Community Interaction Partnership program.  In 2004, she became Southwestern University’s first Director of Civic Engagement.  Through her work at Southwestern, Suzy built bridges between the University and the greater nonprofit community, connecting student learning and passion for social action to local issues and organizations.  She facilitated partnerships between nonprofit organizations and academic courses, student organizations, and individual students that spanned our community’s most pressing problems:  poverty, education, family violence, affordable housing, health care, and more.

Her work at Southwestern has been recognized both locally and nationally, presenting her programs as models weaving students’ academic work with applied, direct action in the nonprofit sector at several national conferences.  Suzy played a key role in Southwestern University’s being named to the U.S. President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll each year since 2006, as well as its Carnegie Foundation classification as an institution meeting standards of excellence with respect to Curricular Engagement,  Outreach and Partnerships.

Suzy has lived in Georgetown since 1998 with her husband, Tim, a school teacher in Georgetown ISD, and their two children, Nat and Corinne, who are both Georgetown ISD students.  Prior to moving to Georgetown, Suzy worked in the private sector as a writer and graphic designer in the health care and educational publishing industries.  She holds an MA in English from the University of Delaware and a BA in English and History from Hiram College.

 Linda Owen

Linda Owen

Executive Assistant

Linda Owen has worked or been associated in the healthcare field for 20 years both in West and Central Texas; most recently in Georgetown.  She has worked as the Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Medical Officer and Chief Financial Officer of St. David’s Georgetown Hospital, to the COO of Covenant Health System (formerly Methodist Hospital, Lubbock, Texas) and President of Austin Regional Clinic.  She also held the position of Product Development Coordinator at FirstCare, a health insurance company, and has 15 years of banking experience having been promoted to the position of Banking Officer.

Linda has worked with several charitable organizations and participated in many events including the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Relay for Life, March of Dimes, American Heart Association and others.  Linda was the organizing Treasurer for the Lubbock Chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Linda served as chair of the Recognition Committee at St. David’s Georgetown Hospital and served on special projects with the Employee Advisory Group.  She has received certificates of recognition as an outstanding employee from past employers.

Linda is married with 2 children, 2 step-sons and 2 grandchildren.  She is an active member of the First Baptist Church Georgetown.

KENNETH W. POTEETE

Kenneth Poteet

President Emeritus

Kenneth Poteete has more than thirty-five years experience in health care administration. He has served as CEO of Georgetown Hospital, and Georgetown Healthcare System. Currently, he is President Emeritus of Georgetown Health Foundation.

He has served the Texas Hospital Association (THA) in many capacities including: Chair of the Board of Trustees, Chair of Texas Hospital Insurance Exchange, member of the THA President’s Roundtable, and member of the House of Delegates for THA.

Mr. Poteete is a longtime member of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Georgetown Rotary Club. He has worked with Georgetown Partners in Education, Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center, Georgetown Ministerial Alliance, Lone Star Circle of Care, Georgetown Industrial Foundation, and the Georgetown Community Resource Center.

He has received numerous accolades, including “Georgetown Citizen of the Year” and the “Earl Collier Award” which is the highest honor awarded to hospital Administrators by the Texas Hospital Association. Currently, he serves on the Board of The Georgetown Project and serves on the Board of Visitors for Southwestern University in Georgetown.
