Ad Hoc Member – GHF Governance & Nominating Committee
After a career in higher education administration, Cindy retired from Southwestern University as Associate Vice President for University Relations in May, 2015. Her professional areas of focus consisted of constituent relations, public relations, marketing, communications, events, and coordination of Southwestern’s signature Shilling Lecture. During her career, she was active in her professional organization, the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and served on CASE’s international board, as well as holding a variety of leadership roles at CASE’s district level.
Her local community engagement includes serving as the 2017/2018 Chair of Seeds of Strength, a woman’s philanthropic organization that in ten years of existence has provided over $1.3 million to Georgetown area nonprofits. She led Seeds of Strength’s 2017 visioning effort and continues to serve on its Board of Directors. Cindy also has been active at First United Methodist Church Georgetown (FUMC) where she engaged in strategic planning through FUMC’s Core Leadership Team and Vision 2016 Committee. Currently, she is a member of FUMC’s Stewardship Committee. Cindy is a past board member of the City of Georgetown’s Main Street Program.
Cindy attended the University of Houston and the University of Texas and holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree in Marketing. She is married to Tom Locke and between them they have six children and ten grandchildren.
