Chair Emeritus – GHF Board of Directors

Dr. Schaefer has served on the Board of Directors of Georgetown Healthcare System for over 20 years and as Board Chair for more than 15 years. Throughout his career, Dr. Schaefer served the families of Georgetown and the surrounding communities with compassion, professional care and understanding.

He has assisted in coordinating the Texas Mission of Mercy (TMOM) in the Central Texas area. TMOM is a traveling organization that provides vision, dental, and basic health examinations for those without health coverage.

Dr. Schaefer’s dedication to the community goes beyond healthcare. Dr. Schaefer was an active member of the Williamson County Sheriff’s Posse for more than 20 years, also serving as their captain for 5 years.

He has served as Director of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Director of Mary Bailey Child Development Center in Georgetown.

He served on the Planning Committee for the development of the City of Georgetown logo, the Planning Committee for “Keep Georgetown Best”. He was a Charter Member of the Sun City Rotary Club and the Georgetown Jaycees.

He is a member of the American Foundation for Vision; Texas Optometric Association; American Optometric Association; and Central Texas Optometric Society.
