Caring for Georgetown: The Story of Healthcare, a Hospital and a Community 1848-2018 (full documentary)
The Georgetown Health Foundation is proud to present the history of medicine with a documentary and book, Caring for Georgetown: The Story of Healthcare, a Hospital and a Community 1848-2018. The documentary, by filmmaker Twila LaBar, and book, written by Mary Steger, tells the story of our city and hospital through the memories of our own heroes in medicine. From its founding as a frontier town, through wars, the depression, segregation, and into the modern age, the Georgetown community and its hospital are a thriving example of what makes our city a unique and unequaled place to live. In 2018, Georgetown celebrated the 100th anniversary of its hospital system. In honor of the centennial, Georgetown Health Foundation commissioned a book and documentary film to preserve the important history of medicine in Georgetown and to honor the many people in our healthcare community who dedicated their lives to others.
