Georgetown Health Foundation’s mission is “…to generate and accelerate positive change in our community’s health,” and is privileged to have supported critical resources for healthcare, basic needs, mental health, education, transportation and other services for more than a decade. COVID-19 presents challenges to our community’s health that are unprecedented, and call for unprecedented interventions. The pandemic also calls us to recognize that hardest hit are our most vulnerable neighbors. At this moment, individuals and families that GHF has historically sought to support and empower are faced with even greater difficulties in meeting their most basic needs.
Thus, in addition to continuing to support organizations served by GHF funding through our existing processes, we invite eligible organizations serving Georgetown/Georgetown ETJ to submit applications to the GHF COVID-19 Relief Fund, which will assist in relief and recovery efforts to Georgetown/Georgetown ETJ individuals, families, and organizations impacted by the coronavirus.
This process will deploy funding in two separate processes:
- GHF COVID-19 Relief Fund – May 2020 will target relief directly to Georgetown/Georgetown ETJ individuals and families who are most severely impacted by the pandemic;
- GHF COVID-19 Relief Fund – At a time to be determined later in 2020 will broaden relief and recovery efforts to support not just individuals and families, but to assist in sustaining critical operations and programs for organizations serving vulnerable populations in Georgetown/Georgetown ETJ. Details on the future 2020 process will be released at a later date.
Timeline for May 2020 Process

GHF’s Target Population & Geographic Area. In order to be considered for funding, organizations must serve GHF’s target population: Georgetown children, youth, elders, and families who are low-income and/or have significant need. Applying organizations must be 501c3 nonprofit organizations and proposals must be related to the COVID-19 crisis. We will also consider proposals that would allow a nonprofit to adapt its existing programs in the face of the ever-evolving COVID-19 landscape (e.g., modifications to financial assistance or food programs impacted by social/physical distancing).
In all cases, special emphasis will be given to efforts that help the most vulnerable people in our community.
Churches and faith-based organizations are eligible to apply for projects assisting the wider community (i.e., not just members of their own faith or congregation), provided that outreach does not include the promotion of religious beliefs and participants are not excluded based on religious beliefs that differ from that church or faith-based organization.
Grants will be awarded to support the direct costs of a project or program (e.g., supplies, equipment, food, educational materials, program staff). Operating, overhead, and indirect costs are not eligible for this grant funding.
Contract help and/or additional program staff may be eligible if used for extra personnel that was hired or augmented to meet a need related to the COVID-19 crisis. Grants are to be used for program staff only; neither administrative nor management staff time is eligible.
