Meet the Instructors
Scott Alarcón
CEO, Georgetown Health Foundation
Scott Alarcón brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit leadership and governance. In addition to his work leading and growing the Georgetown Health Foundation, Scott has served in several leadership positions for local civic organizations. He has been instrumental in the expansion and implementation of innovative projects in support of health care and education throughout Central Texas. Currently, he is a member of the St. David’s HealthCare Board of Governors, Chair of the American Council on Exercise Board of Directors, Treasurer of the Board for Lone Star Circle of Care, Children at Heart Ministries Board Member, and Member of the Austin Area Research Organization. Scott has also previously served as a three-term Trustee for the Georgetown Independent School District Board of Trustees and Board President for five years, a past member of the Executive Committee for The Georgetown Caring Place Board of Directors, past Member of the Executive Committee for The Boys and Girls Club of Georgetown Board of Directors, Past President of the Central Texas Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives and past STARRY Board Member.
Andy Davis
VP of Education and Capacity Building, Georgetown Health Foundation
Andy Davis is an expert in nonprofit board development, known for his dynamic approach to education and capacity building. Spending most of his life serving nonprofit organizations, Andy brings over 25 Years of sector experience to Georgetown Health Foundation. Before GHF, Andy spent 15 years at BoardSource, the premier organization focused on nonprofit governance, most recently as the Associate Vice President of Education and Outreach. Andy is a regular speaker and presenter on various board leadership topics nationwide.
Andy currently serves as the Board Chair of Our Minds Matter a student-led movement working toward a day where no teen dies by suicide in Washington, DC. He previously served as the chair for the national advisory council of AmeriCorps Alums, as well as being a charter member of the Center for Nonprofit Advancement’s Board Leadership Awards. Andy holds a master’s degree in public administration with a concentration in nonprofit management from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Previously, Andy served as the professional development coordinator for Quality Enhancement for Nonprofit Organizations (QENO) in Wilmington, NC.

This intensive session is tailored for local consultants in Central Texas eager to master the art of leading nonprofit governance training and consulting and enhance their facilitation skills.

Led by nationally known consultant Susan Decker, this comprehensive one-day training will provide invaluable insights into practical nonprofit governance training and facilitation techniques. Meet the Instructor
Susan Decker
Susan Decker is an independent consultant based in Indiana and has over 25 years of nonprofit management and leadership experience, currently working with nonprofit organizations on exceptional governance practices, fundraising, board development to increase engagement, and strategic planning. She has worked with client organizations across the globe with a diversity of mission, size, and geographic scope.
As a trainer of consultants, Susan has served as the lead for the BoardSource Certified Governance Training program and the Certificate of Nonprofit Board Consulting. In this role, she has worked with over 200 nonprofit consultants, guiding them on best practices in building engaging and focused board training based upon sound governance practices.
Previously, Susan worked with two national public charities: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. At St. Jude, she had responsibility for special event fundraising of $150M annually and a staff of nearly 200. At Komen, she had governance oversight for over 100 local boards. She also served as the National Director of the Race for the Cure® series, the world’s largest run/walk series.
Susan has served on a number of nonprofit boards of directors, serving in leadership positions such as Chair of the Governance Committee and Chair of the Board. She currently serves on a local nonprofit board.
