Prior to retirement in August, 2022, Tom’s extensive financial background and understanding of the importance of service to others prepared him to effectively lead the Texas Methodist Foundation, the country’s largest Methodist Foundation. The Foundation provides services to strengthen the ability of Methodist churches, institutions and individuals to advance ministries. These resources include investments, loans, stewardship services, grants, endowment guidance and clergy leadership development.
Tom served over 30 years as President of TMF. Formerly he was involved in banking in the Georgetown area. A graduate of Texas A&M University, Tom later completed study at the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU.
As a lifelong United Methodist, Tom’s appreciation for the outreach of the Church is an important part of his life. He currently sits on boards of Perkins School of Theology at SMU, and Texas Wesleyan University in Ft. Worth. Tom previously served on the Board of Visitors at Southwestern University and the Executive Committee of Austin Area Research Organization. An active member of First United Methodist Church of Georgetown, Tom has served in numerous leadership roles.
Civic contributions include past service as president of the Georgetown Rotary Club and founding chair of Handcrafts Unlimited, a non-profit consignment shop for senior citizens.
Tom is married to Cindy Locke. They have six adult children between them and 11 grandchildren.
